I don't really understand this move. Building up the Euro team and dumping the home team. Does Trek sell more mtb's in Europe than it does in the US? If so then I can see a little light.
You guys finally make some mtn. bikes to be really proud of yet won't sponsor a team. I know VW was the sponsor but still I would think the mighty Trek could pull something off.
This is a common misconception -- we did not ditch Trek/VW in favor of a World Cup Team.
World Cup teams take a long time to formulate, and this one has been in the works for over a year now. It's a sad coincidence that VW happened to not renew their contract at the same time that we launced the World Cup Team.
That said, you will see racers out on the circuit this coming year -- it will just be in a different format, without the umbrella of Trek/VW.
