Stage 7 repeat win by TWR's Flu Brothers...

While the Flu brothers were just minutes shy of an overall podium placement in the 2010 Absa Cape Epic, they did manage to do something few other teams can claim: back to back stage wins. This feat of strength is particularly difficult due to the frequency of mechanical issues, and the severe physical toll each stage takes on the body.

So late yesterday, I received the following note from Sven Martin, Trek World Racing's lens in the trenches at the Cape Epic...

Today started off hard and fast. Scott/ Swisspower attacked early with rested legs. They drove hard for the most of the mornhing. Fluckigers, Songo/Specialized, Bulls and Merida stayed with them most of the morning. Scott put in a few min lead on the rest of the field, and it looked to be a race between the brothers and the other three teams for second place. Specialized dropped back, tired from previous efforts. Surprising everyone at the finish line, Fluckigers passed the Scott team, who had blown in the last final kilometers. If the brothers can put 4 min on 3rd place in tomorrow's short and fast final lap, they can move into third place overall...
